(15 - 29 April, 2008)

15 Apr 2008: ENTERING THE UNKNOWN
A warrior acknowledges her pain but she doesn't indulge in it. The mood of the warrior who enters into the unknown is not one of sadness; on the contrary, she's joyful because she feels humbled by her great good fortune, confident that her spirit is impeccable, and above all, fully aware of her efficiency.
A warrior's joyfulness comes from having accepted her fate, and from having truthfully assessed what lies ahead of her.

16 Apr 2008: Everything we experience has an emotional component.
Everything we experience has an emotional component. We react emotionally, for example, to beauty. The emotional body has only one purpose and that is to feel. The intellect makes an interpretation of what we feel and attempts to justify our emotional reactions. The intellect tries to repress the emotional body and to cover our wounds with lies to avoid pain. In this way, we develop our denial.

17 April 2008: Hold to the reins of Love
Hold to the reins of Love and don't be afraid.
Hold to the real behind the false and don't be afraid.
..
You must know
That the Beloved you seek
Is none other than you.
Hold to this truth and don't be afraid.

18 Apr 2008: THE BOUNDARIES OF EXPERIENCE
Agnes turned. her face was red-brown against the green windy day. 'Lyn, what do you believe in?"
I was surprised by the abrupt question.
"What do I believe in?"
"Yes, tell me."She smiled at me with a special glint in her eyes.
"Well I believe in being honest."
Agnes laughed softly. She placed a small rock on the earth in front of me."Go on," she said."What else?"
"I believe in being good at what I do."
Giggling, Agnes placed another rock alongside the other one.
I went on to describe to her all of my important political and ethical values. By the time I was finished there was quite a large mound of rocks.
"What does that mean?" I asked, indicating the pile.
"Those rocks represent each of your beliefs. There is the hoop of the world and the hoop of the self. Your hoops are like nests that surround you-- very very comforting.
But you must recognise the existence of such safe nests, You must see that you sit on those rocks as if they were eggs, and you were the mother hatching them. You must see that you are not free because you will never leave your nest of self ignorance."
Agnes pointed to the rocks."There is your nest. You can spend the rest of your life hatching that if you want to. Those eggs will be the boundaries of your experience.

21 Apr 2008: Abundance
As a result of our work practices, the indigenous notion of abundance is very different from that in the West. Villagers are interested not in accumulation but in a sense of fullness. Abundance means a sense of fullness, which cannot be measured by the yardstick of the material goods we possess or the amount of money in a bank account. Abundance, in that sense of fullness, has a power that takes us away from worry. It is the kind of feeling you get when you are in communion with nature, in communion with the source.

22 Apr 2008: Covenant
Every person has a covenant with God that cannot be broken, this covenant stands through all planes, all phases, all existences. Refusal to honour it doesn't affect the covenant at all.

24 Apr 2008: I am casting shadows into the sky.
"I am casting shadows into the sky.
I did not invite it but the sun has come
And is now playing tag with my feet.
Where do you think you will Be
When God reveals Himself
Inside of you?
I am sitting on a mountain range.
I am a precious body of living water
Offered to the earth
From Light's own hands."
Hafiz "he Subject Tonight is Love"

27 Apr 2008: Whose interpretation
Whose interpretation, then, of the sense and experience of a religion is to be preferred in the name of science; that of the one who has been touched and psychologically transformed by the rites, or that of the one who has not?

28 Apr 2008: The universe communicates with itself through light.
The sun receives information from the centre of the galaxy. Light comes from other stars as well as the sun. The universe communicates with itself through light. Condensed light is a nerve found throughout the universe. Throughout the universe there is a constant flow of information. Data moves in beams of light from the sun and other stars. Light beams are therefore messengers, and one synonym for messenger is "angel". A light ray is an angel. An angel is a being of light carrying information outward from the centre of our galaxy, star to star, sun to planet.

Apr 29, 2008: A Person's Purpose
My people hold dear view of personhood that contrasts with modern empirical thinking. The Dagara believe that everyone is born with a purpose, and that this purpose must be known in order to ensure an integrated way of living. People ignorant of their purpose are like ships adrift in a hostile sea. They are circling around. As a result, tribal practices emphasise the discovery, before birth, of the business of the soul that has come into the world. A person’s purpose is then embodied in their name, thus constituting an inseparable reminder of why the person walks with us here in this world.
